About Me

(What's this guy's deal?)

My life is a bowl of chili, full of things you think you expect yet flavored by things you don't.

I was born in Hollywood and raised in East Los Angeles … until The Moves!  At age eleven, I bounced between three different states before I graduated high school from Central Lyon High in Rock Rapids IA.  THEN I joined the U.S. Army, where I’ve served for twenty years in six units, deployed twice (one to Iraq, one to Afghanistan), jumped with the Airborne 43 times, traveled extensively, and worked with some great Soldiers.

Now that I'm retired, I’m living my dream as a writer, a husband, a father, and a Christian.  I weave various tales of love, loss, faith, challenge, excitement, and terror in a grand effort to entertain your wits and help piece together the biggest puzzle in life: why.

I have an Associates degree from Montreat College School for Professional and Adult Studies in Charlotte, NC.  Living in California, Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina, Germany, Arizona … if you're disoriented, welcome to my world.  No wonder I write, huh?

In case you're curious, these are the units in which I've served:

- 82nd Airborne Division (96-00)

- 108th Institutional Training Division (02-04)

- 1/10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) (04-08)

- 3rd Infantry Division (08-14)

- 9th Signal Command (14-15)

- 111th Military Intelligence Brigade (15-19).
